8,500 feet of runway.
5,020 feet of elevation.

Wingman AeroCare operates from Northern Colorado Regional Airport, a full-length GA airport on the Front Range with the traffic volume, runway length, and density-altitude character that shape how every piston engine based here is maintained.

A field elevation that
teaches you engines.

KFNL sits at 5,020 feet MSL with an 8,500-foot primary runway. In July, density altitude routinely exceeds 8,000 feet before the pattern is even loaded. A normally-aspirated Lycoming or Continental making takeoff power here is operating under a permanent partial-throttle condition its counterpart at sea level never sees.

What altitude does to a Lycoming.

A normally-aspirated piston engine is displacement-limited. It can only make the power its intake manifold pressure allows. At 5,020 feet MSL on a warm day, manifold pressure at full throttle is already well below sea-level numbers. EGTs run hotter because mixture distribution shifts. CHTs climb because cooling airflow at the same indicated airspeed is thinner. The engine is working harder on takeoff here than it would at KAPA on a cool morning, let alone KDCA at sea level.

Different rhythm for based aircraft
and transient work.

Aircraft based at KFNL get inspected with a density-altitude-aware checklist: closer attention to cylinder condition, baffling, and induction health. Transient aircraft arriving from lower-elevation fields get the same inspection scope, with a candid conversation about how the aircraft has been operated and what that means for return-to-service recommendations.

Where our customers are based.

KFNL sits in the northern Front Range corridor. We serve owners based across the region and welcome transient work from operators traveling through.
