What does Wingman's labor warranty cover?
Updated · Wingman AeroCare, KFNL
Short answer: Wingman AeroCare warranties its labor for 90 days or 100 flight hours, whichever comes first. It covers the labor on work Wingman performed. A labor warranty covers workmanship; it does not cover normal wear, unrelated failures, items you declined, or the parts themselves, which carry their own manufacturer or vendor warranties.
How long does the warranty last?
| Limit | Term |
|---|---|
| Time | 90 days |
| Flight hours | 100 flight hours |
| Which applies | Whichever comes first |
An owner who flies 40 hours a month would reach 100 hours before 90 days. An owner who flies 5 hours a month would reach 90 days first.
What does a labor warranty cover?
A labor warranty protects you against problems caused by how the work was done. Typical examples:
- A fitting or line that was installed and later leaks because of the installation.
- A component that was rigged, adjusted, or safetied incorrectly.
- A repair that does not hold because of the workmanship.
In those cases, the labor to make it right is covered within the warranty period.
What does a labor warranty not cover?
By its nature, a labor warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear that happens after the work, such as tires and brakes wearing with use.
- Unrelated failures, meaning a problem in a part or system that was not part of the work performed.
- Items you declined. If an item was on your estimate and you chose not to approve it, no work was done, so there is nothing to warranty.
- Damage from operation or incidents, such as a hard landing, prop strike, or improper operation.
- The parts themselves. Parts warranties come from the part manufacturer or vendor and follow their terms.
Does the warranty cover work sent to partner shops?
Engine overhauls, propeller overhauls, paint, interiors, and major avionics installs are performed by vetted partner shops that Wingman manages. That work typically carries the partner shop's own warranty terms, which are often different from (and for overhauls, often longer than) a 90-day labor warranty. Ask about the warranty terms for any partner job before you approve it.
What should I do if I think something is a warranty issue?
- Stop and assess. If the issue affects safety, do not fly until it is checked.
- Note the details. Date, flight hours since the work, symptoms, and photos if you can take them.
- Contact Wingman. Call (970) 292-0719 or email hello@wingmanaerocare.com.
- Bring the aircraft in so the issue can be inspected and the cause determined.
Logbook entries from the original work (made under 14 CFR 43.9) document exactly what was done and when, which makes it straightforward to connect a problem to the work performed.
Why is the warranty labor-only?
Because labor is what Wingman controls. The quality of the installation, adjustment, and repair is the shop's responsibility. Part defects are the responsibility of whoever made or sold the part, and that is where those warranties come from.
How Wingman handles it
